The term started off with enthusiasm and positivity. After a long break the staff were revived and ready to go.

We were extremely blessed to have the Ivy Leaders visit and volunteer with us for a week. These boys were so enthusiastic and just wonderful to have around. The children thoroughly enjoyed every minute shared with the guys. On the day before they were due to leave, The Lighthouse Academy’s First Soccer team challenged the Ivy Leaders to a match. The Ivy Leaders won by a “small” margin. Our boys eventually called in the big guns, which were some of our male teachers which did improve the score a bit. Overall, it was an awesome time of fellowship on the soccer field. We look forward to having these guys visit us again next year.

LHA competed in the friendly LLSV Cross Country meetings this year. We took approximately 55 children to participate at 3 various meetings, with one meeting being the Championships. For a first effort, our children did extremely well. On average there were about 70 – 80 athletes in each age group and per race. We managed to get an overall of 11 children in the Top 10 and won 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal. We are super proud of our children.

We wish to thank Ma’am Ellanie for finding a donor to purchase us new sports uniforms. The athletes looked beautiful.

On a sad note, we lost one of our Grade 1 pupils who died tragically 2 weeks ago.

Please join us in praying for the grieving family. We are working at starting our Foundation Phase Playground. We have a jungle gym and a sandpit. We are needing another jungle gym structure, swings and various items upon which the children will be able to play.

Another need is general educational equipment for the Foundation Phase classes. Puzzles, building blocks, construction toys, paint, paintbrushes, fantasy toys, carpets for a reading corner, books and loads more is required to make our Foundation Phase classes more functional.

One of our teachers spoke on John 13 vs 13 this morning which reminded us that we as Educators are actually servants of the children who we teach. We ended the term off with this verse in mind.
