With a feeling of expectancy and anticipation Ellanie van Rooyen found Tshega Christian Mission in February 2002 around her family kitchen table. Her parents Johan and Annatjie van den Bergh convicted by their love for Christ and his body committed to support their daughter.
Like any new life there were birth pains, contentment, joy, fear, our first steps and still growing. After two decades our TCM team is striving to deepen our relationship with Christ to serve the community in a meaningful way, in love.
Tshega, a Sepedi word meaning pruning or laughter was found on John 15, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
The emblem symbolising a hand helping, working, and comforting is meant to embody the colours of the South African flag, reminding us that working together we can overcome the past that keeps us captive. We should all strive for a better future together through transforming our hearts and minds to become part of a transformational community.
